A green smoothie can be a great way to break the fast on any given morning. If you’re an organic gardener like I am, then you very likely have more than enough kale than you know what to do with. We suggest dashing outside in your Eddie Bauer slippers at 7 a.m., plucking two kale leaves off the plant, running back inside and zipping them up in the blender with a bunch of other tasty ingredients. Here’s what I generally put in my green smoothie.
Ingredients:
2 medium-sized kale leaves, picked fresh, with ribs removed
1 banana, peeled of course
1 cup of plain yogurt
3 Tbs ground flaxseed
Almond milk
To make:
Place all ingredients in blender – kale and banana at the bottom, then yogurt and flax, with enough almond milk to fill the blender about halfway.
Blend until it becomes a green smoothie.
Drink up!
