Ever taken a look at the power you’ve given someone or something else over you?
When you say “If only they did xxx, my life would be better”... you’ve just said you don’t have the power to change your circumstances.
When you say “If only they paid me more, my life would be better”… you’ve just said you don’t have the power to change your circumstances.
When you say “If only I didn’t live in this area, my life would be better”… you’ve just said you don’t have the power to change your circumstances.
When you say “If YOU would do THIS, then I would be okay”… you’ve just said that you don’t have the power to change your circumstances.
Here’s a thought. Why not ask:
- Who can I go to?
- Who can I talk to?
- Where can I find the information?
- Where can I get the details?
- How can I get from Here to There and who can help me do it?
Change in circumstances can happen overnight, though it doesn’t often occur that way. What often does happen is that you talk with someone – who recommends you talk with someone – who shows you a business or a government agency or a school or a foundation or an expert or a plan… and you see what you can do next from there.
Then you decide what to do first – so you can change your circumstances.
Then you take action – to improve your situation.
That’s how it works. You aren’t supposed to know all the answers. You aren’t supposed to know who to talk to, where to go, what to do next. There’s a reason there are 7 billion other people on this earth – and that you’re connected to a LOT of those people!
Reach out. Ask questions. Take action. Use your power.
