If you’re ever exploring the quaint riverside town of Milford NJ, you won’t want to miss Chocolate in the Oven Bake Shop. Swing open the door and pop your head in for a quick whiff of incredible fresh baked treats.
You’ll find goodies galore for every whim and fancy. And there’s always something special for the season.
Owner Cathy LaGuardia does a nice job of keeping the Facebook page updated. So if you’re easily lured in by food pics like I am, you might just find yourself heading down the road in search of the fresh baked goodie of the day.
This time she got me with a picture of sfogliatelle, fresh out of the oven. You can see it in the picture below, that heavenly, flaky layered pastry shaped like a big seashell.
My dad and I like to argue over which filling is better. He swears by the whipped cream and I prefer the other kind that’s flavored like citron and is probably made with ricotta.
But enough about Italian people arguing over food preferences. In addition to the typical bakery standards like cookies, cupcakes, brownies and such, Chocolate in the Oven also does chocolate truffles, dipped pretzels, peanut butter buckeyes and these types of confections.
And for the ice cream and gelato lovers, you can cool off with a scoop or two, while sipping on a made to order cappuccino or latte.

There’s lots to love about Chocolate in the Oven Bake Shop in Milford NJ. And I’m not the only one who thinks so. Hunterdon Happenings recently tipped a hat, naming them the area’s best bakery in 2021.
