Hey, friends! I’m an eighties kid, so when I see retro toys in the stores I get all happy.
When my son was little I bought a few of those classic Fisher-Price Little People throwbacks off Ebay, like the farmhouse with the barn door that moos when you open and close it, the school house that had the cheerful ringing bell on top, and the yellow bus whose googly eyes moved back and forth when you pulled it around.
We had those toys in our basement playroom for years. Every kid who came over was magnetized to these toys. I’m going to have to find them again on Ebay in case anyone’s interested in buying them for their kids.
They don’t make toys like this anymore. They were sturdy, functional (the school house had a slide-in tray with magnetized letters included, brilliant!), educational as I just pointed out, and just perfect for spontaneous play.
Anyway, we were in Target the other day and I saw that some retro toys for older kids had returned to the scene. I may be heading back there to stock up on birthday and Christmas gifts. Or, Amazon is always an option if you don’t feel like leaving the house! Check out these classic toys… never too many of these!
