How long should your ribbed scarf be?
A minimum of 6 ft is probably the best length to knit your chunky ribbed scarf. You can make it longer… but if knitting for your dude, the slightly shorter scarf length might be more useful tucked into a men’s overcoat, without underhang.

Use two skeins of a chunky yarn; this one is Lion Brand Wool Ease in oatmeal gray.

Ribbed Scarf Pattern
CO 26 stitches
Row 1: SO purlwise, (K3 P3) x 24, K1
Row 2: SO purlwise, (K3 P3) x 24, K1
Repeat row 1, row 2 until 12 inches of yarn is left. Bind off and tie in the ends.
This ribbed scarf is a bulky piece of outerwear. If your coat fits a bit snug, you might need to wear it on the outside instead of tucking it in.
