Thanksgiving stuffing… how hard can it be to make? Pretty easy, actually, and you don’t even need a box of Stove Top.
In a nation-wide survey, 4 out of 5 people named stuffing as their favorite Thanksgiving dish. Actually, I lied. There are no such stats, as far as I know. But it’s pretty clear by the fact of NO LEFTOVERS OF STUFFING EVER, that this is the most loved dish on the turkey-day table.
What do you need to make stuffing?
- Bread cubes – buy them in a bag (basically croutons), or just cut up 2 or 3 slices of bread yourself
- A type of shortening or grease – butter is the favorite, but you can use a combo of a healthy oil and butter if you’re eating for wellness
- Soup veggies – no one calls them that, but that’s all basic stuffing really is – celery, onion, maybe a few carrots
- Accent flavors – herbs and spices, like nutmeg, allspice, cloves, sage, and fresh parsley
- Chicken broth – makes it moist and delicious
How to make stuffing:
- Cut up your bread into cubes and add to a large mixing bowl.
- Chop up celery, onion and even carrot if you like – add that next
- Add accent ingredients if you like. (see below for ideas)
- Season with the sage, nutmeg, allspice
- Shake on some salt and pepper
- Drizzle on some olive oil and toss
- Grease a Pyrex dish and preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
- Add the stuffing mix to the pan. Cut up about 1/3 stick of butter into cubes, and disperse these throughout the stuffing.
- Pour chicken broth over all.
- Bake until heated through, and slightly browned at the edges.
Stuffing – Special Ingredients to Add Flavor and Crunch
- Pecan pieces, whole cranberries
- Mushrooms, Parmesan, and a splash of white wine
- Apple chunks, raisins and walnuts
- Artichoke hearts, spinach and Parmesan
- Sausge bits and bell pepper chunks

Stuffing is Delicious – Why Not Make Double?
I can’t say it enough – the stuffing’s always the first empty bowl at Thanksgiving, am I right? Thinking about that… why not double the recipe this year?
It’s truly simple to make, and you’ll have something to look forward to when you’re enjoying those turkey leftovers for the rest of the week.
