S’mores in the Park, a community-built event hosted by local artist Drizzy Hemp, will take place for the second year in a row, on Saturday, December 14, at 5pm in Shappell Park, South Main Street, Phillipsburg, NJ.
From roasting s’mores to singing carols to making ornaments, and even “Let’s Build a S’Mores Village,” the December 14 festivities will bring friends and families of the Phillipsburg area together for another evening of merry-making.
There will be photos with Santa, hot chocolate to stay warm, Christmas cookies for the kids, local vendors sharing awesome handmade items, and more.
The event will include a Special Needs area, run by Vickie Mendes-Branch who also attended and played a big part as well in Phillipsburg’s Sneaker Day event held this past August.
Says Drizzy as the event’s founder and coordinator, “Last year it was incredible… the crowd, the festivities, and most of all ALL OF THE RESIDENTS THAT CAME TOGETHER TO MAKE IT HAPPEN! I am truly thankful for that moment and it will always be remembered forever by many. So this year we are doing it again, and I NEED YOUR HELP.”
S’Mores in the Park is a FREE event, with donations from the community to help put everything together and make new memories this year.
Drizzy says that all are welcome to participate. Admission is free, and with an emphasis on “community built” guests may offer “whatever their heart feels compelled to help with.”
“Just you and whatever you want to donate and actively be a part of, for S’mores In The Park!” she says.
Drizzy has created an Amazon wish list to make it easy to manage donations, stating again that participants are free to give in whatever capacity they are willing and able.
She adds: “Christmas time for many including myself can be rough. This is the PERFECT DAY, PERFECT TIME, AND PERFECT SEASON TO ENJOY A COMPLETELY FREE EVENING OF FUN!”
